FAQ

Question:

Why does the following error message occurr every now and then ?

Method Not Allowed
The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /nf-errors/cgi-cutoff.asis.

Answer: I do not know but probably because the server is overloaded.
Question: So this site is devoted for people who are really lonely, but why are non-loners not allowed to make personals too ?

Answer: Because if anyone in the world would be allowed to make ads, then the database would be overfilled. This site is located at a site with free but limited webspace, so if anyone in the whole world would be allowed to make ads, then I would have to pay for webspace, and would then have to charge for using the site, and that is definitely not something I want to nor will do because I think matchmaking should be free. In other words, if the database would be overfilled with lots of ads from 'normal' extrovert people with a normal social life, then I would have to shut down the site. So if you are such a 'normal' person and still would make an ad here, then you would contribute to the closing of this site, and that would not make you seem to be a very nice person by the really lonely people using this site.

Question: How many UserID's can you have, and why would anyone have more than one ?

Answer: You can have two UserID's, and the reason for having two is that you could want to write one personal in english, and one in your native language (if non-english).
(When I made the CGI script, I could also have made it possible to use the same UserID for more than one personal, but I think that would have been a little bit more difficult and had taken more time to make it work perfectly without bugs as I am not using any real SQL database, so I chose this easier way to just have a simple one-to-one relationship between personals and UserID's.)

Question: Why are there so few questions answered in this FAQ ?

Answer: Maybe because I currently haven't got any more questions, or maybe I do have, but just haven't had time to answer them yet. (I have made this site on my spare time, and among other things, I have a full time job to run too.)
Note 2002-03-14: Actually so far (for the almost three years existence of lonematch) I haven't really got very many questions, so I guess most things are pretty clear :-)

Question: Your support really sucks. I have sent you a question, but haven't got any answer. Why ?

Answer: I am not making any money at all on this site, and I am also not charging anything at all for using it. I do not guarantee personal answers for questions, but I will try to extend this FAQ with questions I get , which feel relevant to put in the FAQ.
